Cover to Cover Challenge 2017 (day 5 and 6)

On day five of our challenge Jer and the kids read Genesis 28-33. I was not feeling well and took a nap. So I had to make up the reading on my own.
Tonight, the sixth night, we read Genesis 34-38. Jeremy fell asleep, so he will make up the reading before tomorrow night.
These chapters are full of action. Traveling, death, even sexual sin. Often, I have people tell me that the Bible teaches things like deceit and murder. They take stories like these ones in Genesis and think that YHVH God is teaching us to take justice into our own hands. But that is not true. The story of Dinah and Shechem are an example of how knowing God’s ways doesn’t mean you are more Holy than someone else. What the two oldest brothers did to Shechem and the men of that land was not justice. YHVH did not tell them to take matters into their won hands. Just like when Jacob and his mother deceived Isaac, these situations were not God’s plan, but man taking things into his own hands. God’s will is always done. But just because God makes good out of something bad, like when Tamar had the twins, after deceiving her father in law, Judah, doesn’t mean it was right of her to take matters into her own hands.
If we place our faith in Messiah and Trust in God’s sovereignty, then we must walk in obedience to His Ways even when we can’t see how His promises will be fulfilled. That is what true faith in action looks like.
