Attitude and Body Language (Family Rule Book part 2)
Family Rule Book . ParentingThis past week, I introduced our family rule book to you. This week I am sharing the first two pages in our book and explaining them. I will be doing a page a week in this blog series.
If you would like to read last weeks post. Here it is.
Page one is actually the cover of our rule book.
Hirn Family Rule Book
As for me and my house, we will serve Yehovah!
Joshua 24:15
This is so important. We want everyone who is apart of our family to remember all our rules are about serving Yehovah God. Our whole lives, and everything we do is for His Glory.
The first page of our book that has actual rules is the Attitude and Body Language page. We made this page the first because attitude drives behavior. Our attitude towards, God, our family, our parents, siblings, ourselves, and others is the foundation of how we behave. The Bible calls our attitude that which “comes from our heart.” Most people think of the heart as the place of love. But here are several passages that clearly show that our heart is our “attitude.”
Matthew 12:34; Proverbs 4:23; Proverbs 10:11; Psalm 14:1; Proverbs 21:2; Proverbs 24:12; Ezekiel 11:21; Ezekiel 16:30; Luke 6:45
We cover attitude and body language on this page.
(this page reads)
Attitude
Attitude Goes a Long Way!!
“A Merry Heart does good, like medicine:
But a Broken Spirit Dries up the Bone.”
Proverbs 17:22
“Do All Things without Complaining and Disputing, that You may become Blameless and Harmless,
Children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse Generation, among whom you Shine as Lights in the World.”
Philippians 2:14-15
Your attitude is your choice. No one can make you mad or glad.
We expect you to control your own attitude, and to treat everyone with the respect you want to be treated with. Not Just when you are with us, but always.
(If you need an attitude adjustment, we understand, and encourage you to ask to leave a situation to adjust your attitude.)
Body Language
Attitude drives Behavior.
“For you were bought with a price, therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit which are God’s.”
1 Corinthians 6:20
A worthless person, a wicked man, Walks with a
perverse mouth; He winks with his eyes, He shuffles his feet, He points with his fingers; Perversity is in his heart, He devises evil continually, He sows
discord.
Proverbs 6:12-14
Your body language is a result of your attitude. An example of bad body language is when you roll your eyes, stomp your feet, or slump your shoulders.
Examples of good body language are looking at someone when they are speaking to you, responding politely when spoken to, and walking when sent to your room.
We expect you to work on your body language, and take correction when given.
(If we see you are struggling to control your body language we will give you one verbal word of encouragement. If you can not get yourself under control, we will then ask you to go make an attitude adjustment, and then return to us.)
As you can see we didn’t just explain the expectation, but we also gave clear ways to correct their behavior. It is so important to teach our children why we do what we do, and how to correct our path when we find ourselves somewhere ew didn’t mean to be.
Another passage we considered for our first page is Proverbs 4. I really feel this is a great passage to discuss with children.
Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction;
pay attention and gain understanding.
2For I give you sound teaching;
3When I was a son to my father,
tender and the only child of my mother,
4he taught me and said,
“Let your heart lay hold of my words;
keep my commands and you will live.
5Get wisdom, get understanding;
do not forget my words or turn from them.
6Do not forsake wisdom, and she will preserve you;
love her, and she will guard you.
7Wisdom is supreme; so acquire wisdom.
And whatever you may acquire,a gain understanding.
8Prize her, and she will exalt you;
if you embrace her, she will honor you.
9She will set a garland of grace on your head;
she will present you with a crown of beauty.”
10Listen, my son, and receive my words,
and the years of your life will be many.
11I will guide you in the way of wisdom;
I will lead you on straight paths.
12When you walk, your steps will not be impeded;
when you run, you will not stumble.
13Hold on to instruction; do not let go.
Guard it, for it is your life.
14Do not set foot on the path of the wicked
or walk in the way of evildoers.
15Avoid it; do not travel on it.
16For they cannot sleep
unless they do evil;
they are deprived of slumber
17For they eat the bread of wickedness
and drink the wine of violence.
18The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn,
shining brighter and brighter until midday.
19But the way of the wicked is like the darkest gloom;
they do not know what makes them stumble.
20My son, pay attention to my words;
incline your ear to my sayings.
21Do not lose sight of them;
22For they are life to those who find them,
23Guard your heart with all diligence,
for from it flow springs of life.
24Put away deception from your mouth;
keep your lips from perverse speech.
25Let your eyes look forward;
26Make a level path for your feet,b
and all your ways will be sure.
27Do not swerve to the right or to the left;
turn your feet away from evil.

Things to know as you visit our site
We are Bible believing, scripture only people. We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith. We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God. The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.
These writings were originally written by men inspired by God. They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents. Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains. Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.
In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua. Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.
