The Gospel of Leviticus (Day 9 of the challenge)

Bible Reading Challenge

day 9

KEEP IT UP!!!! KEEP READING!!!!!

Sorry our posts have been late, we have had our power out due to a couple storms that rolled through.

I love that YHWH’s Gospel message is told so many beautiful and different ways throughout the scriptures.  As I read Leviticus I saw this story being told over and over again.  I want to share just a few things I saw.

 lev

I am going to look at chapters 13 and 14.  These chapters are about leprosy and how to test and be  cleansed of it.  It starts out with this long strange list of how to identify leprosy.  And I was like ok, who cares.  But then I remembered that God’s Word is eternal and there is a meaning for all of it.  Then after a close look I realized that this is a love story from God to us.  As I looked closer to chapter 13,  I realized leprosy was picture/symbolic of sin.  I know it is NOT sin, just a picture of sin.  When a leper found himself unclean he went to the priest, and after treatment and cleansing of the leprosy occurs, he returns to the priest again to offer a special sacrifice.  This special sacrifice is what I want to focus on for a minute.

lev 14

So, the priest is suppose to offer a specific sacrifice after the leper is clean.  This sacrifice requires 2 clean birds, cedar wood, scarlet string, and a hyssop branch.  The first bird is slain in a bowl of running water, and the blood of the bird mixes with the water.  The second bird is dipped in the first birds blood, along with cedar wood, the hyssop,  and scarlet string.  This is so cool, because it is actually a prophetic picture of Jesus death and resurrection and our life in Him.  Jesus hangs on a wood cross, Jesus wore a scarlet robe, Jesus shed blood mixed with water,  and Jesus was offered a drink on hyssop.  Jesus was slain for our sin and poured out His blood for us.  But He didn’t just die, HE rose again, and the living bird represents us, dying with Christ and being raised to Life.  Jesus is our cleansing sacrifice.  What love.  What did you learn from Leviticus?

Things to know as you visit our site

We are Bible believing, scripture only people.  We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith.  We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God.  The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.

These writings were originally written by men inspired by God.  They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents.  Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains.  Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.

In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua.  Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.
