Day 18 Self Control, Discipline (40 Prayers for your Husband)
40 days of Prayers for my Husband . Biblical MarriageI have to admit that most of the prayers in the book are not my style (for lack of a better word). But, today, I could really relate to the prayer in the book. So, I am going to model my prayer today after her’s.
Abba Father,
Today, as I write this prayer for my husband, I am struggling with my own self control and disciple. So, I come first to you and ask that you calm my my mind and heart. Help me look at myself and search my heart to find those things that keep me from being patient and kind, and self controlled. Lord, I can see the list of the fruit of the Spirit on my wall as I sit here now, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Your Word says, against such things there is no law. I love that. We are FREE to love, free to have joy, free to be at peace, and free to be a peacemaker. We are free to be kind, and to do good. We are free to be faithful (loyal), and gentle. And we are free to have self-control. These are NOT against the law of Creation, these are NOT against the law of God. You made us to live in the Spirit and it is because of Christ we are Free to demonstrate Your character.
I pray that I make no excuses for bad behavior. I ask that You discipline me when I fail to live according to Your Spirit. I often want to blame my physical or mental health for my bad behavior, but your Word also says, that You give Your children power, love, and a SOUND MIND. SO, there is truly no excuse for bad behavior. No excuse for losing my temper, no excuse for laziness, no excuse for anger or unforgiveness.
Father, create in me a clean heart, I do not want to be be deceived by my own heart. replace the desires of this world for the desires of Your Kingdom. Help me be the wife, mother, daughter, and sister that You intended for me to be.
As I seek You, I pray that You would also do this same work in my husband. Give Jeremy a clean heart filled with Truth and a desire to flee from sin. Let Your Spirit reign in him as well. May your Fruit flow through and out of Jeremy. Discipline him, and make him a man who makes no excuses for bad behavior, either. Remind him that there is nothing to fear in life when we place You on the Throne of our heart. Remind him that You are trustworthy, faithful, full of compassion, and mercy.
Help Jeremy to be a man of integrity in all things. Give him a vision for his life today, and every day that is center on Your Will for his life. Lord, let Your Spirit flow out of Jeremy in blessings to him children, wife, and family. Make him the example of living in the Spirit that spurs others on to faith.
Father, Jeremy and I are one, and I ask that you make us a united force that blesses others through Your Spirit. May Your Fruit, be all that others see. LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, AND ESPECIALLY SELF-CONTROL!!!
AMEN!

We are Bible believing, scripture only people. We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith. We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God. The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.
These writings were originally written by men inspired by God. They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents. Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains. Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.
In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua. Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.
