The Fruit of the Spirit Prayer Challenge Introduction (Day 1)
Prayer Challenge . Praying the Fruit of the SpiritIn June of 2023, I felt the leading of the Holy Spirit to be more intentional when praying over my spouse. So, I invited my Facebook friends to join me in praying for their spouse. I was so blessed by the experience, and so were others, that we decided to continue in praying together intentionally. It has truly been a joy and blessing to go to God in prayer with others.

This week, I asked if anyone had a prayer challenge idea on their hearts, and immediately it was suggested that we pray through the fruit of the Spirit. I loved the suggestion, and the challenge of it.
So, today, we begin our prayer challenge through the fruit of the Spirit. I don’t know about you, but I love the promise that we have that through Christ we are filled with His Spirit, and He gives us all that we need for Godliness and Righteousness. I fail often in allowing the Spirit to abide in me, and work through me. But, I am so grateful that He is always there to guide and correct me.
God’s Word says,
“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
Galatians 1:3-5
Christ gave Himself up to die for our sins, and He has rescued us. Yeshua promised His Spirit to His Disciples that loved and obeyed His Father’s commands.
“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:15-17
In the letter to Timothy, Paul tells Timothy,
“God gave us his Spirit. And the Spirit doesn’t make us weak and fearful. Instead, the Spirit gives us power and love. He helps us control ourselves. So don’t be ashamed of the message about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, his prisoner. Instead, join with me as I suffer for the good news. God’s power will help us do that. God has saved us. He has chosen us to live a holy life. It wasn’t because of anything we have done. It was because of his own purpose and grace. Through Christ Jesus, God gave us this grace even before time began.” 2 Timothy 1:7-9
And in 1 John 4, we read,
“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.” 1 John 4:1-6
We can be assured that if we acknowledge Yeshua has come from God, and walks in obedience to His Father’s commands, He has indeed given us His Spirit. Today, as I read these passages, I ask that God the Father, will fill me with their truth, and I will walk in them.
We can know without a doubt that God has given us His Spirit, and that because of that, we are filled with the Fruit of the Spirit.
As we pray through the fruit of the Spirit these next ten days, we will also work through the letter written to the church of Galatia. Today, take some time and read chapter 1 of Galatians, (if you have time read through the whole letter of Galatians).
Questions for chapter 1:
Who is writing this letter? answer in verses 1-2
Who is receiving this letter? answer in verses 3-5
Why is Paul writing this letter? answer in verses 6-9
By whose authority does Paul teach the true Gospel? answer in verses 13-25
When we pray the scripture over ourselves and others it is very important that we have a good understanding what it is we are praying.
So today, as we begin this prayer challenge, and ask God to fill us with His Spirit and the fruit that comes through Him, let us give thanks for He has been so good to give us His Word to know and understand Him better each day.
Father in Heaven,
Thank you for your Word and Your Spirit that guides us. Today, as we start this new prayer challenge we are asking You to fill us and all your children with Your Fruit, help us to not become discouraged when trials or temptations come our way to test us. Instead, give us the strength to endure and the power to overcome. Help us to let go of the lies of this world and the false promises that result from living our own way. Make us humble and help us not to compare our lives with one another, but only look to You as the example set before us. May we be willing to lay our lives down for one another, our hopes, our dreams, and our will for Yours. Amen
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.” Galatians 5:22-26
Maybe you are like me and enjoy hanging scripture around your home. Here is a link to a bunch of great scripture pictures that are free to download and print.

We are Bible believing, scripture only people. We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith. We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God. The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.
These writings were originally written by men inspired by God. They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents. Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains. Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.
In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua. Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.
