First, I just want to say, “Good Job” to everyone who is sticking with the challenge . I know it is not always easy, but it is worth it.
Ok, now that I got that done with, I actually have to choose what I want to write about. There is just so much and I want to share it all, but I don’t think you want to read a fifty mile long post.
I thought it was interesting that when Ishmael and Hagar were dying in the desert of thirst, God answered Ishmael’s prayer, by speaking to Hagar and showing her the well. (Genesis 21:14-19) This reminds me that God, sometimes, answers our prayers through giving insight to others. God’s ways are not always our ways, but He always works for the good of those who love Him.
I also noticed that Abraham’s near sacrifice of his son is very similar to another sacrifice. Of course, I am talking about the sacrifice of Jesus. Think about this, Abraham loved his son dearly, according to God, His only son. Genesis 22:15 God also loves us dearly. But sin caused Him to have to be apart from us. There was no way Isaac could be freed from his bondage, and we can not free ourselves from the bondage of sin. But, god provided a ram to take Isaac’s place, and Jesus is our ram. He took our place.
God blesses Abraham saying that he will be a great nation and triumph over his enemies. (Genesis 22:16-19) Remember Abraham is a picture of God. God has brought us into His family, and He will triumph over our enemies. Isn’t it amazing how God tells the Gospel throughout His whole book?
So, keep reading, and please share your thoughts and insights, and stories in the comments below.
