When I was younger, one of my nicknames was Katie, the cleaning lady. I recently had a dream that I was in charge of cleaning everything. I mean everything. Also, in the dream I was envious of the people singing in the choir, and considered joining the choir rather than doing my job as the cleaner. In the dream, I knew that I could not do both singing in the choir and cleaning. I just didn’t have time for both. So, after a short discussion with God, I decided to remain as the cleaning lady.

In real life, there has been many a time that I wanted to do something else, be someone else, or at least do what someone else was doing. The other night a young lady I know told me that often when she hears stories of miraculous things God has done in people’s lives she feels like, “why doesn’t anything like that happen to me?” She went on to say that she was thinking about that very thing, and God revealed to her that she was blessed because she didn’t need God to do a grand miracle, the miracle was that He was already always with her, and she was protected from those tragedies that appear to be the grandest of miracles.

I have been pondering all these things the last few days.

Being a cleaning lady isn’t very glamorous. But it is necessary. If things are left alone they will become dusty, then dirty, then rotten, moldy, and even rot away in some cases. Someone is needed to keep things sterile, clean, and sanitized. In life, we can accumulate lots of things, and they will pile up and become a mess, and if there is no one to keep things in order and in their proper place, chaos can begin.

No one can find anything. Stress from the mess begins, and our health begins to fail.

This is true in our spiritual lives too. We must keep a clean, sterile, sanitized (Sanctified) environment for our relationship with Yehovah God and His people (Kingdom) to grow and be healthy. There has to be order, and a firm foundation or things will begin to fall apart and chaos will abound. In our personal life, and in the body of Messiah, we must have cleaners. People who maintain the basics, manage the filters, making sure that nothing comes in that is unholy and keeping the filth out.

I have been asking myself if God sees me as a cleaner, what does that mean I do?

I believe I have found the answer in the letters of Paul. Paul was the cleaner in the early church. Paul knew the Torah, the scriptures, he knew the culture of God’s people, and he knew Yeshua, our Messiah face to face. Paul, was trained since childhood to be a cleaner. Paul knew the character of God, because he had been taught it since birth. Paul was far from perfect, and was sometimes overly zealous. But, he was full of passion for teaching the church the basics.

The number one thing we read in Paul’s writings in scripture is the same lessons we all should learn in preschool. Be kind, share, love one another, be humble, stop fighting, act like Yeshua.

I believe a cleaner in the body of Messiah is someone who maintains the foundational truths of the Gospel. The ten commandments, the teachings of Yeshua, and the basics that all children in a Godly home should learn from their parents according to Deuteronomy chapter 6.

Sadly, even though many parents have done their absolute best to raise Godly children, many have neglected to give their children a firm foundation to stand on. They didn’t know themselves that God’s Word was given to us as a manual for us to use in teaching, training, rebuking, and building up one another for His good works, in order that the Kingdom would be firmly established in their hearts.

Many believers love God’s Word and dig deep down into it to find treasures, and miss the rich produce on top that is produced from the top soil. We must plant our seeds closer to the surface so that they will get the proper light from the SON!
