Journey to Redemption continuing on to Shavuot
Journey to Redemption . Torah/BibleOn our journey, we celebrated the Last Day of Unleavened Bread, and the day of First Fruits yesterday. This is a good time for me to explain again that the calendar was not the same the year that Yeshua died and resurrected. I personally believe that it was the same the year that the Israelites left Egypt and the year of Messiah’s resurrection. I can not prove this, but it is my personal view.
That being said the year of Messiah’s death Passover fell on a Wednesday evening. That means Thursday, was a high holy day, day one of Unleavened Bread. Those who took Yeshua down from the cross and placed him in the tomb would have been unclean and unable to participate in that Passover meal, and would have had to wait an extra month. That is why only two men took him to the tomb. The day of Passover is a preparation day, for the first day of unleavened bread. Now Yeshua remained in the tomb Thursday morning and evening, Friday morning and evening, the weekly sabbath preparation day. Then He remained in the tomb Sabbath morning, and rose at the end of Sabbath. His tomb as discovered as empty early before the sun was up on Sunday morning. Then on Sunday, the first day of the week, He presented Himself before the Father in heaven as our First Fruits offering.
So, First Fruits and Resurrection Sunday are the same day. Technically, Messiah resurrected on Sabbath.
Now, in Torah we are told to count seven weeks, or 50 days from the First Fruits offering of barley to the First Fruits offering of wheat. This is called Counting the Omer. As we count each day at our house we continue in our Bible reading journey with the Israelites and the Disciples of Yeshua.
If you would like to read along with us here are the passages we read yesterday and today.
Yesterday, First Fruits readings
John 20:1-24
Luke 24
Matthew 2:1-15
Exodus 12:37, 13:1-16
Numbers 33:1-5
We are not reading the story book Tirzah this year but I strongly recommend it as a family reading during the counting of Omer. Reading a chapter a day.
Today’s reading:
Exodus 13:17-22
Numbers 33:6
Mark 16:14
Luke 24:36-44
John 20:19-25
We had some additional passages we read, but I didn’t write them down. I will try and add them later.

We are Bible believing, scripture only people. We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith. We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God. The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.
These writings were originally written by men inspired by God. They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents. Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains. Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.
In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua. Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.
