A Time of Reflection by Bekah

Kid Posts

As the year 2025 comes to an end, I have been thinking about all the stuff that happened this past year, and how blessed Andrew and I have been. So here is some of the stuff we did this year.

January

The first project we did on our house this year was taking out the exterior walls in the bedroom that will to be Teddy’s bedroom. We replaced the insulation and drywall, then started the long process of mudding and sanding.

February

In February, Andrew updated our house electrical panel, so that we could install our solar panels. He also started purchasing all the stuff needed to get the solar panels up and running.

Next came a really hard part of the year, as we worked through the loss of people very close to us, while also trying to be there for others and comfort them. I personally felt like seeing the people close to me hurt and not being able to take away the pain is one of the hardest things I have ever gone through. But I know God is good even in the hard times. I found comfort in Romans 12:15, “Rejoice with those that rejoice and weep with those that weep.” I knew that though we weep at this time, one day we will rejoice together again.

Spring

We began making our house feel more like a home. We hung up curtains in the kitchen and started the flower beds in the front yard. Teddy loved to play outside as we worked. I also laid a stone pathway to the front porch. We then put flooring down in Andrew’s and my bedroom which really made the room feel nice. (Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa!)

Summer

Then the night before Father’s Day, we found out I was pregnant with baby #2! We were so excited and a little nervous about the journey ahead but mostly excited. Teddy turned one year old, and I honestly can’t believe how fast time has gone by. We told Andrew’s family at Teddy’s birthday party that he was going to be a big brother! Everybody was surprised and happy for us. As the first trimester started, I was feeling pretty good so we continued to work outside, and we got a lot of work done on our car.

As the weeks continued though I started getting morning sickness and being more tired. I also stopped breast feeding Teddy. Once the heat started rising through the summer, it bothered me so much that we had to shift to just working indoors. Andrew and Teddy painted the living room and hallway a fresh coat of white paint which really brightened up our space.

Fall

Then one day, we went outside to our garage to find a cat eating trash. It had gotten locked inside the garage and couldn’t get out. She was really small, and we felt bad for her. So, we fed her, and now I don’t think she will ever leave. We also think she might be preparing to give us new kittens.

During all this time, we are still working on getting everything done for the solar panels. It has been a wild ride with lots of up and downs. We filed all the paperwork, but we needed an engineer to make sure our house was strong enough to hold the weight of the panels. Well, long story short, our house was not strong enough, so plan b was to put them on the garage. But, it’s not that simple, so we had to have the architect come and look at the garage and make a plan to make it strong enough for the panels to be on it.

During this time, we also had a wedding. Andrew’s brother was getting married. We were happy to welcome a new member to the family and it was a beautiful wedding.

Sukkot was also coming up quickly, and we had a lot to get prepared.  We wanted to make the 14 hour drive to Kansas to celebrate God’s feasts with my sister’s family. Us being us though, we had to start one more project before leaving our home. In our third bedroom of our house we found what we thought might be a roof leak, because something had made mold grow in our walls and ceiling. So, we tore out the walls and ceiling to get rid of it, and figure out how to fix whatever was causing the issue. Thankfully, we didn’t find a roof leak, it was actually poor ventilation of our attic. So, we somewhat put the room back together, and got to packing for our trip. Sukkot was a great time of being with family and getting closer to YHVH. God had blessed us with safe travels.

When we got home we were still waiting on the permit to put up the solar panels, but at the same time it was getting cold and the one bedroom in our house didn’t have any ceiling or insulation in it. But Andrew’s work had slowed down, so he had more time at home than he normally would. It was a blessing, because we never would have gotten so much done before snow if he had had his normal work. He got the ceiling up and insulated just in time for our permit to get approved, and we started working on the solar panels, it wasn’t a small project either. First, he had to put wood up in the garage to make the roof strong enough to hold the panels. Then he had to run an electrical wire underground to our house, next install the inverter and mount the feet for the panels on the roof. Followed by cleaning off the panels and finally, he put them on the roof. With help from our family, we got them up in a day! Sadly at this time they are not running yet but if it’s YHVH’s will, we will have it all together to get inspected by the end of the year.

Winter

As the year ends, I’m in the beginning of the third trimester of this pregnancy. It has been easier than my first pregnancy, once I got through the first trimester, I have felt really good and I have had energy to keep up with Teddy though nap time is very much needed everyday. I pray that I continue to feel good and have good health as it gets closer to the day when our baby is born.
