Why CEF?
CEF (child evangelism fellowship) . Family . Home SchoolingAs we come to the close of another summer of serving with CEF, I can’t help but wonder why more churches and families don’t partner with this awesome organization. I think it might be in part not knowing who they are and what they do. When I was young, I thought they were a part of the Baptist church, and that they preached a different gospel than what I believed. But, about ten years ago, a friend asked me to consider hosting a five day club. This small request would forever change our family, as we would eventually be actively involved with CEF. So, since I believe every family and church can benefit from being involved with this wonderful organization, I am going to write a series of posts on why you should be involved with CEF. Here are the questions I will be answering in this series:
Who or what is CEF?
Why host a five day club?
Why should I send my teen to CYIA or SMA (CEF summer training camp)?
Why should my church partner with CEF’s afterschool programs?
Why should my church ask CEF to train our children’s ministry staff?
I hope that you will take the time to read each post and prayerfully consider if the LORD is calling you to be actively involved in this organization, or one like it.
In this post I will answer the first question, WHO IS CEF?
CEF stands for Child Evangelism Fellowship. This name describes who and what this organization is about. It is about reaching children with the Gospel (Good News) message of Jesus Christ.
Child Evangelism Fellowship® is a Bible-centered organization composed of born-again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living.
This organization is not affiliated with any denomination. It is over 75 years old and is an international organization.
Here is a link to their statement of faith. Statement of Faith
I encourage you to go to the CEF website and look it over. CEF online
My next post will be more personal about my five day club experience. So, keep watch for that.

We are Bible believing, scripture only people. We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith. We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God. The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.
These writings were originally written by men inspired by God. They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents. Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains. Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.
In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua. Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.

We did their five day clubs at our home ever summer and we always attended their yearly banquet. Love that ministry!
