Do you believe in the God of the Bible? Are you a person of faith? What do these phrases actually mean?
Recently, I have been discussing with family and friends what a life of faith is? Sometimes we ask the question, “Oh, are they a believer?” and then the other person says something like: “Well, I am not sure they say they are a Christian, but they are not active in a church anywhere.” or “I think so they talk about God a lot and their church.”
But who is a believer? What does it mean to be a believer?
I can say I am a believer, and mean that I go home and pray to Lucifer and believe in him. I can say I am a believer and pray to Allah. Maybe a better question is, “Do they believe in the God of the Bible, creator of heaven and earth?” And a follow-up question might be, “How do you know?”
Seriously, how are we to know if someone is “saved” “a believer” a person of true faith?” Can we know? Many Amish and other sects of the Christian faith say that one can not truly know if they are eternally saved. Are they right? Is there any way to recognize a true brother and sister in Christ?
So, I decided to look in the scriptures to see if I could find the answer. What does it mean to believe, have faith?
And as I was searching these questions out, it just so happened that our teaching elder spoke on Hebrews chapter 11 yesterday.
Look here:
Hebrews 11:1-3
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
3 By faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”
(I would suggest that you take time to read Hebrews 11 and 12. It is the testimony of the elders of Faith. We can see in these chapters how Faith looks.)
Wow, there it is the answer. Faith is all the things we hope for, because even tho we didn’t see Yeshua be born, live on earth, die, and resurrect, just like those who were before His time, our lives are a testimony of that Truth. And…
Faith is knowing that there is only one Creator who made everything we see and everything we don’t see.
That’s it! I got it.
Faith is living a life that always points back to God the Creator and His Son our Redeemer. Faith is everything we think, say, or do.
Our actions, our way of life is evidence of our Faith.
So, I began pondering this and how it would look. Asking myself questions.
If someone were to stalk me, follow me around each day, would it be clear to them that I am a woman of Faith in the God of the Bible?
Sometimes Facebook will suggest friends to me. When I am curious about who the person is, I will click their public page and scroll it. It always makes me wonder what will someone see if they scroll my page. I hope they see Yehovah is God. Yeshua is my Saviour. That is what I hope they see.
But what if someone scrolled through my daily life? Would they see Yehovah is God, Yehovah is Good, Yehovah is my Saviour?
In life, we don’t get any rewinds, erasers, or fast forwards. So, we must make the most of each day. We must take every moment to honor our God. We must not miss an opportunity to serve our Master and King. We must slow down and remember that this is the time to shine the light of Truth. We must realize that everyone we come in contact with is a precious child of God. We could be the person that makes all the difference in their life.
Faith is an action. A believer is not a title, but rather a character trait of those who place their eternal hope in Yeshua.
