Time for a Challenge (Cover to Cover in 2017)Bible Reading Challenge . Family . Home Schooling . Katie's Ramblings
It is that time of year again. Time to take the challenge. Here at the Hirn house we are all going to do the cover to cover challenge again. We will be starting the cover to cover challenge.
Starting tomorrow evening we will be reading through the Bible as a family, out loud each evening. We will not be using a reading guide this time. Instead, we will be reading for thirty minutes each night until we finish the Bible.
If you have been reading our blog a while you already know that we have taken the Bible challenge as a family a couple times. Each time we do it a little differently. But every time we read the Bible through from cover to cover it has changed our families lives. Maybe you would like to take the challenge with us.
Here is how we plan to do our challenge.
Everyone will participate, even Benny who is three. After dinner each night we will sit in the living room together and read for 30 minutes uninterrupted. (This is a great time for little kids to learn the value of sitting still and quiet, even when they don’t always understand what is being read or said.)
The strongest readers will do the reading. (This makes it easier for everyone to follow along and comprehend the materials, it also keeps the pace moving.)
If someone misses the reading time, it is their responsibility to make up the reading before the next reading time.
After the 30 minutes of reading, we will have time for discussion of the materials we read.
That’s it. That is the whole plan.
As the calendar switches from 2016 to 2017, it is a great time to read through God’s Word and get grounded in our faith again.
We hope you will join us.

Things to know as you visit our site
We are Bible believing, scripture only people. We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith. We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God. The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.
These writings were originally written by men inspired by God. They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents. Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains. Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.
In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua. Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.
