Thinking on Sign on the Hand, Symbol on the Forehead
Biblical Living . God's Calendar and Biblical Feasts . Popular Posts . Sabbath . Spiritual Warfare . Torah/BibleSo, this morning I woke up with a thought in my head about verses I have read in various places in the Bible. Verses that talk about signs on the hand and symbols on the forehead. The reason was in my Bible reading this verse was read, “ And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord‘s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.” in Exodus 13:9.
This verse is talking about the feasts God commanded His people to keep each year. But, as I read that verse it reminded me of some verses in the book of Revelation.
The first ones that came to my mind were the verses about the Beast, in chapter 13. Here is verses 16 and 17. “ And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”
I realize these verses are opposites. The Exodus passage is about the children of Yehovah, and the passage in Revelation is about the children of the Beast, the anti-Christ.
But, I remembered there were other verses in Revelation that I thought talked about hands and foreheads. So, I looked and found these. Chapter 14 of Revelation verse 1 says, “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.”
Then in verses 9 thru 12 of the same chapter I reads, “ And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”
And then I found this one also in Revelation chapter 22 verse 4, “ And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.”
So, now I am thinking there must be more of these hand and forehead verses in the Bible. So, I started a search. Here is just a few I found interesting.
Deuteronomy 6:8 “You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.”
Deuteronomy 11:18 “You shall therefore impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.”
Hebrews 8:10 “FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.”
this is a quote from Jeremiah 31:33, “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the LORD, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”
There were lots and lots of verses that linked together with this idea of forehead (the mind) and hand (the actions of the heart).
But, I found it beautiful and interesting that Yehovah said that the weekly Sabbath day and His annual feasts are a sign and symbol (a testimony) on our hands (in the actions of our heart) and on our forehead (the thoughts of our mind). He is so good to us, to give us this weekly reminder of His love poured into us and these annual days to meet with Him and remember His greatness poured out for us. That we will NEVER forget His goodness.
Exodus 20:12 “Also I gave them My Sabbaths to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.”
Exodus 13:9 “ And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord‘s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.”
Shalom and Keep reading and studying.

Things to know as you visit our site
We are Bible believing, scripture only people. We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith. We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God. The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.
These writings were originally written by men inspired by God. They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents. Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains. Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.
In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua. Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.

That was excellent, Katie!
I was pleased to read this post. I was searching for examples in scripture where God mentions that believers are to have his name written on their forehead or hand in contrast to non-believers having the beasts name in those places.
Rom 8:5 Those who live according to the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
Thank you for posting this! I had been struggling with fasting, but felt a spiritual urge to do it. Suddenly, I got the desire to “bind” a ribbon around my hand, which continually reminded me of my fast, and why I was doing it. It worked, and I am on day three now.
That made me want to search the scriptures for more about this concept.
This was very enlightening! Thank you!
Yes! I’m glad someone else noticed the matching symbolism! I have noticed it too.
Most people seem to want to argue the meaning of what the mark of the Beast IS, but I realized it doesn’t matter. The mark of the Beast is a complete rejection of God and a complete bowing to the authority of another – that is, total idolatry, the replacement of God and His law for something that will not save.
Great work!
What is the difference I have been through so much and I was married by God them fell away then am trying to come back to worship and something on my hands was done
On our hands is a picture in the Bible of what we do. It is about the things we do, not what is actually on our hands.
Isaiah 49:16 “Look, I have inscribed your name on my palms…” ❤
Excellent writing! I believe God is speaking to you. There are many questions on the mark of the beast but is it actually a mark in the body? As I was reading an early church writing Hippolytus of Rome, #49 seems to imply that it is not an actual mark in the body. I had also remembered those verses in Exodus and Deuteronomy and looked it up and found your article. Now I am praying over this. Thank you for sharing!
