The other day as I mentioned to a friend that we just completed reading through the book of Ecclesiastes, She said, in jest, “Oh, I do not like that book.” I laughed and said, “I didn’t think it was very encouraging to Jeremy, either.” She went on to say, “I see verses like “everything you do, put your whole heart into it,” etc.” and she feels the pressure of it. I said, “that’s funny, because I see the book as very encouraging.” ” I see it saying that this life is so short and so meaningless that we need to just remember the big picture is to live a life for God.” “Don’t sweat the small stuff.” Do your best and trust God to show you His way.
Here are a few verse that really spoke to me in Ecclesiastes:
There is no remembrance of people of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them. Eccl. 1:11
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: Eccl. 4:9
A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance Eccl. 3:4
Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of every human being. Eccl. 12:13
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Eccl. 3:11
Just an added note, as we have been reading through the Bible we have also enjoyed watching these videos. They are fun, cute, children’s Bible commentary video’s. Like any commentary they are from the writer’s perspective. But we really enjoy them. What’s in the Bible with Buck Denver
