Cover to Cover Speed Challenge
Bible Reading Challenge . Family . Home SchoolingIf you are a regular reader of our blog, you know we have been silent for a while. We got silent right in the middle of a family Bible reading challenge. I will be completely honest with you and tell you we have not completed that challenge. We have every intention of completing it. But life has sort of run us over the last four months of so. But, I am so grateful that we have a firm foundation in the Word due to the many, many times we have already taken the Bible reading challenge.
So, today, I want to talk about the Cover to Cover speed challenge. This is a personal challenge. Like the cover to cover family challenge, a person reads their Bible from cover to cover. But instead of using a guide, the individual reads the Bible as fast as they can.
So, here are some tips and advice if you want to take this challenge.
First, choose a Bible that is easy for you to read and comprehend. I prefer to read the New American Standard Version, because it is the version I grew up on and it makes the most sense to me. That being said, I also like the New King James version and The Complete Jewish Bible. Many people find the New International Version the easiest to understand. The version you use needs to be easy for you to understand.
Second, read entire books in one sitting when possible. By reading an entire book at a time it makes it more like a story and easier to understand the author’s intent.
Third, don’t stop and study when reading. If you want to study something out, write it down quickly and keep reading. Study it out later.
Fourth, read as fast as you can and still comprehend the material. Don’t just speed read, but read quickly, read with efficiency.
Fifth, actually read from cover to cover. Start by reading the title pages and the introductory pages. Get a real understanding of the book you are going to read.
Sixth, don’t read a study Bible. Use a Bible that doesn’t have a bunch of extra notes. If that is the only Bible you have, just avoid the notes. Read it like a story book, not a text book.
Lastly, read it in order. Some Bibles have slightly different orders, but most are pretty close to the same. When you read your Bible as fast as you can from cover to cover, you will discover that God placed each and every book, word, and verse in His Word in just the right way for us to understand it. The End, that is the New Testament makes a lot more sense when you read it after fully reading the Beginning, that is the Old Testament.
So, take the challenge today. No matter how many times I take this challenge, it ALWAYS blesses me and grows me closer to YHVH GOD and His people.

We are Bible believing, scripture only people. We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith. We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God. The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.
These writings were originally written by men inspired by God. They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents. Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains. Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.
In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua. Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.
