Recently, I was told that there is nothing wrong with my “faith walk” but why do I need to complicate things? This question almost made me laugh. My friend, was referring to the fact that I choose to apply all scripture to my life as best I can. Often we say, “We are doing Bible things in Bible Ways.” For example, instead of keeping with traditional, catholic holidays, like Halloween, Easter, and Christmas, etc. , I choose to celebrate the Biblical Holy Days found in God’s Word, the Bible. Sabbath, Passover, Shavuot, and Sukkot, etc.
Another example would be, I believe that God gave the food laws in the Bible for the benefit of His People so therefore, instead of eating pork or shellfish, I choose to only eat what is considered Biblically clean animals, and fruits and vegetation.
Am I complicating things here? I hope not.
In fact, the reason I almost laughed in my friends face, is, I have found so much peace, order, and joy in walking my faith out according to God’s Word.
It isn’t complicated at all.
I admit, when I first was told that God wanted me to read, understand, and apply His Word completely to my life, I was overwhelmed by this challenge. It indeed, sounded complicated. But once I took the challenge to read my Bible as if it was written to me, from cover to cover like a book (letter). I soon realized how much God loves me and all His people and creation. I realized the Bible was so much more than I ever realized. It wasn’t just tidbits of wisdom, but it was the masterpiece of manuals. The manual for all eternity.
If you, like my friend, think obeying and applying God’s Word to your daily life sounds complicated, I have great news for you.
God’s Word is easy to understand and written for all mankind to grasp.
It isn’t complicated at all. It is full of life, hope, peace, joy, and clarity.
Here is a few scriptures I would ask you to ponder. Then after you ponder these, consider reading God’s love letter to you from cover to cover as fast as you can. It just might simplify your life. It just might bring you clarity that you never knew was possible.
The Words of our Messiah:
Matthew 5:17-20
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
A letter from Paul to Timothy in regards to the last days:
2 Timothy 3:12-18
12In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
13while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
14But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,
15and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
17so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
A Psalm of Praise for the Torah (Law of God):
Psalms 119:9-16
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. 10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. 11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. 12 Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees. 13 With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. 14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. 15 I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. 16 I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.
Deuteronomy 29:29
29 The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.
There are so many verses I would like to share. But as I always say, reading God’s Word in context is always best. I challenge you to put all commentary aside, and just read your Bible and pray that the Holy Spirit guide you in all truth.
I sit here even now, and laugh to myself. If only my friend could understand the great peace and clarity I have found in the simplicity of just obeying God’s Word. Life isn’t without pain or sorrow, but the peace and deep joy that comes from knowing His Will, His Ways, is beyond anything I can explain. It is something one must experience for themselves.
May the God of Order and Clarity grant you wisdom and discernment as you choose to walk in His Ways and be set apart unto Him today and always.
We are Bible believing, scripture only people. We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith. We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God. The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.
These writings were originally written by men inspired by God. They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents. Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains. Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.
In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua. Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.
