I love the science of procreation of humanity. I love the whole idea of how a man and a woman come together and a new human is formed inside the woman’s very body. I love the process and development of that little baby, and I am totally fascinated by the way a human is brought out of the womb and into the world.
I love it so much that a few months ago I decided to study to become a midwife. I bought my books and I began studying. I looked into several options of how to enroll and what course of action I would like to go in pursuing this new goal. I decided that I would study for a few months before I officially signed up for a course. That would give me a jump on things and I would hopefully, not fall behind once I started.
I found it all very exciting and fun to study. Since I have given birth to 11 of my own children, I felt I had a real advantage in understanding a lot of the material. I was super excited to attend the births of my next two grandchildren. I had already been present with my first grandchild’s birth, that turned into an emergency Caesarean Section. Even though the experience wasn’t what I had hoped for, I loved being present and I watched and learned everything. I paid attention to the nurses, doctors, and the patient. I was fascinated by my daughter and her husband. It all was just amazing.
So, this summer (2021) when my daughter was getting ready to have her second baby, I went out to be with her and be apart of the birthing process. Again it was so exciting to watch her, her husband, the midwives, the doctors, nurses, etc. I watched, I listened, I was in awe of it all. This pregnancy ended in a second emergency C Section. But, the most amazing thing was how God used people to bring life to my grandson and my daughter. He used doctors and nurses, and he used me and my son in law, and many others who prayed. I was just totally in awe of the whole experience again. This past week another daughter went into labor, and I drove over to her house to be there for the event. She had chosen to have her baby at home with a midwife as well. I was super excited to be invited to be a part of the big day. As things progressed it became clear that this daughter also needed to go to the hospital for her special day. She also had to have a C Section. Praise the Lord, it was not an emergency, just a necessity.
I learned so, so much attending each of these births. I learned that Yehovah God truly is Sovereign and He truly uses all things, situations, and people for His glory and Kingdom. I learned that the practice of delivering babies has come a very long way, and yet it is still a very risky endeavor. The risk is definitely worth the reward.
I could write a dozen books on all the things I have learned in these experiences. But, the thing I learned that I want to share most of all is that women feel a tremendous amount of pressure to do things just right, and shouldn’t.
Several months back, I was asked by a woman if it was a sin to get an epidural when giving birth. She had been told by another woman that it was, because God said we must have pain during birth. She specifically asked me this question because I have given birth 11 times, and I claim to live my life Biblically. The fact that this woman was asking me this question made me sad.
Giving birth is a very personal experience. It is no one else’s business if a woman goes “all natural” or chooses an epidural. My daughters both wanted to have their children in the most natural way possible and in the safety of their own home. This was their hope, and when they both realized this was not the best option for them and their baby, they were heart broken and even ashamed. They felt like they had failed. This should not be! Woman should not feel ashamed for choosing life.
Because of the gifted doctors and nurses at the hospitals in which my daughters ended up giving birth in, both are alive and healthy, and so are their beautiful babies. Woman die in childbirth way too often. Most from high blood pressure, and stubbornness. Many babies are lost because the mother doesn’t realize their baby is in distress. The doctors and nurses that work in the medical field of labor and delivery are in it to bring life not death. Their whole focus is on a healthy mom and a healthy baby. They have no other agenda. They are not trying to trick their patients into a life of drug dependency. They are in the business of bringing babies out of the womb and into the world.
Often, we, cautious people, feel like we can’t trust the government, and we can’t trust the doctors, and we can’t trust the hospitals. But the truth is we can use discernment, we can be wise, and we can learn from all people. There is no shame in having your baby at home or in a hospital. There is no shame in having an epidural or a c section. There is no shame in bringing your baby home after one night in the hospital or 3 months in the NIC unit.
We each need to offer ourselves and others grace. This is a fallen and depraved world, it is corrupted by thousands of years of sinful men and women. Each of us are genetically flawed. Each of us have had trauma or disease affect our bodies. We must not pretend we can some how overcome this reality. We can overcome, thrive, and live only through the power of Yehovah. Sometimes, he uses that which is flawed and broken to restore us, mind, body, and spirit.
I am so grateful that my children and grandchildren are alive today. I am still fascinated by the human life cycle and the process of birth. I am considering becoming a doula instead of a midwife. But, I definitely plan to pursue something in this field of science.
I want to tell all women that giving birth is an amazing thing, no matter how you do it. Growing a baby inside you and then bringing it out of you is a miracle. Natural birth is a miracle. Assisted birth is a miracle. C section birth is a miracle.
BIRTH IS A MIRACLE!!!!!

We are Bible believing, scripture only people. We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith. We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God. The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.
These writings were originally written by men inspired by God. They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents. Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains. Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.
In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua. Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.
