90 Day challenge with the Picture Smart Bible
Bible Reading Challenge . Katie's RamblingsSo we have completed a week of reading so far. We started reading the New Testament on June 1st, and we plan to read all the way through it in 90 days. We decided to add a little fun to it and use our picture smart Bible program.
This program is a fun way to help us remember what we are reading and learning by drawing and coloring images.
We have used this program with family Bible study of other books of the Bible and enjoy it. Recently, they put out a K-3 version of the program. SO, I purchased it to use with the little ones. It is a very cute and simple coloring page.
The program is very easy to use and each book of the Bible has simple commentary for the images as the children color them. I personally do not always use the commentary. Instead, we read the Bible chapters and then discuss them. One of the things that I do not enjoy about the program is that often the commentary and images are not in chapter order. Instead, the images and commentary are in topic order. So, it can be tricky jumping from one chapter to another pointing out the themes.
The best way to make this work is to read the chapters for the day and then go back and discuss the images and themes of those chapters.
The picture smart bible is very nicely done and easy to use, both the original version and the new K-3 version. But, I will say it is not ideal to use both versions together in family Bible study. They don’t work together well. Instead of using both versions together. I suggest if you have teens and young children doing study together just use the older version. The student sheet for the older kids requires tracing and writing of words. So, to make it usable for my little ones I just print the teachers sheet, which is like a coloring sheet.
Here is a sample of the sheets:

- This is Davey’s sheet, I used the master sheet for him, since his blindness would make it too hard to see to write the images in place.
Why do we do all this Bible reading and studying? Because God tells us to…
And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children.
Deut. 6:6-7a

Things to know as you visit our site
We are Bible believing, scripture only people. We love to learn about the Hebrew roots of our faith. We believe it is important to not add or subtract from the Divine Word of God. The compiled scriptures that agree with one another and have no contradiction is the 66 books of what is commonly referred to as the Christian Bible, or the Holy Bible.
These writings were originally written by men inspired by God. They were written in the language of the writers and readers of the original documents. Many of the original documents have been lost, but God’s Word is eternal and remains. Therefore, it is important to us to study, learn, and consider the culture, history, and language of the original writers of the scriptures.
In our studies we have learned that the true name of God is Yehovah, and His son, our Messiah, is named Yeshua. Therefore, as you read our posts we will use the Hebrew names of God and our Messiah.
