So, this morning I woke up, well, Adam woke me up at 7:15. I reached over and took my first Thrive for women capsule. Then I took a look at the package. As I was laying there reading the package, it read, “contains:shellfish.” Oh no, how did I miss this. No, I am not allergic to shellfish, but as a Torah Observant Christian I choose to eat a Biblically clean diet. So, this is a problem for me. I contact my friend who is walking me through this process and she sends a note to find out what is shellfish. I was hoping it was just a precaution label and that there was no actual shellfish. Well, it wasn’t. One of the nutrients actually is sourced at times from shellfish, usually from plants, but sometimes from shellfish. So, bummer. What am I going to do.
Well, after I took that first capsule I went on downstairs and mixed up the powder drink, I went with the vanilla flavor. I mixed it with cold ice water, cause I do better with cold drinks. I was ok with the taste and the texture, but the smell got to me a little bit. But I got it down. Then I excitedly got my DFT patch out and put it on.
All day I prayerfully considered how I could continue the experience and see if this was an answer for me. I took out my bottle of vegan prenatal vitamins and compared it to the ingredients in the Thrive capsules. Wow, they are very, very similar. But missing the caffeine stimulant component. So, there is a thought.
As the day went on my baby, who is nine months and still nursing had several runny, ouchy diapers. I had looked into the affect that might happen when breastfeeding and was willing to take the risk. Since i have used other supplements while nursing in the past. Also, since i often take in a lot of caffeine anyway.
By 8 pm, I was not sure if baby was not well because of Thrive or teething. But to be on the safe side, i removed my patch for the rest of the day. His runny diapers stopped shortly after that, but his rash and fussiness continued through the night.
After removing the patch I had a head ache begin and stay with me through the night.
So, this morning, day two: I decided to try a few changes.
First, I took my prenatal instead of the Thrive capsule. Second, I took the drink powder from Thrive, and third I applied the Thrive patch. I had a little difficulty getting the drink down this morning, because when I went to bed last night my crown came of my back tooth.
My head and neck hurt slightly this morning, which is not unusual for me. Yesterday, I definitely felt the affects of the capsule. So, today is a bit of a let down to my body. I also am having no coffee or other caffeinated beverages as I do this eight week challenge, so there is a difference.
I will also note that yesterday, I felt like I was less irritable, but who knows.
It is day two and my kids are loud and wild. My baby is feeling better. I am still eager to see where it goes from here.
